What makes this tent deluxe?
The difference between the 4 metre Standard and the 4 metre Deluxe is that you get the added waterproof resistance of the groundsheet being permanently connected to the tent walls - however you do lose the ability to roll the sides up on hot days. The Deluxe groundsheet is also a lot thicker (540g/m² PVC) and heavier - the Deluxe weighs 8.5 kg more! If you look at the picture below you can see way the groundsheet attaches to the walls.
We seriously recommend that you have a good think about how you are going to use your Bell Tent and ask yourself is it really necessary to spend the extra money on the Deluxe? Remember that one of the unique selling points of a Bell Tent is to be able to raise the sides and let the breeze through on a hot day and you can't do that with with a Deluxe tent.
If you are planning on using the tent in really wet conditions go for the Deluxe, otherwise consider the cheaper option!

I really love this tent, its well made and easy to erect and the sewn in groundsheet is bombproof. I also have the inner tent and together they make a very spacious and unique tent for two. I think if you had a family you might need the 5m unless you only camped in summer and could live without an inner tent.

brilliant tent, in all weathers....
We are a family of 4, kids aged 4 and 6. Our old dome tent was getting too small and the fibre glass poles were spitting. Did lots of research and finally went for it and bought a 5m bell tent with inner. Reasons? liked the canvas breathability thing, it looks amazing, it will get used for kids parties, easy for one of us to put up, the inner allows mum and dad a bit of privacy, and it should last if we look after it.
Well?? just returned from three day trip with the kids, it rained, really rained, it was really windy, we had a hot sunny afternoon, and a really cold night...so that's a pretty good test. It performed brilliantly, we are really pleased with it. Stood up to all that was thrown at it. The inner is a must, as it provides privacy, something to hang some dark fabric on and an extra bit of warmth and a clean area. Bell tent seems to be the only company with a partitioned inner. The separate ground sheet was fine in the pouring rain, no leaks. And on the hot afternoon...
