These boots for me have now surpassed the 'Merrell Women's Siren Sport GTX XCR Walking Shoe' (something has gone horribly wrong in the manufacturing of the Siren Ventilator shoe, so beware! I had highly recommended the Siren Sport shoe, but it has changed hugely in size, shape and appearance - it's gone long and wide and lost it's feminine fit. I have bought about 3 pairs of these shoes and all have been perfect, but the last pair I ordered sadly had to be sent back, due to the change in fit).

The Siren Ventilator Waterproof Mid Lace boot however is as good as the Siren Sport used to be and in some ways even better, as it has better ankle support. It is an extremely lightweight boot and very comfortable to wear in the warmer weather with a light walking sock, but no doubt will also be excellent in wet weather, due to them being waterproof. Bit of an odd one but good if you want a narrower fit
These are a bit smaller and narrower around the forefoot than other Merrells I've tried in a size 8. The way the lacing extends right up to the toe of the shoe meant when walking the sides framing the tongue were gaping with each step in the toe area. Essentially the lacing was acting as part of the support system for the shoe and when under strain was stretching. I thought this was a bit odd and didn't bode well for the longevity of the shoe. Other than that I really liked them, they were quite supportive elsewhere and looked smart on. The soles were well made and comfortable. If you're a small size 8 they're certainly worth a go, as I imagine the problem with gaping is exacerbated by a wider foot.
