These are pretty well the perfect walking boots, but first a word about sizing. Zamberlan make their boots on a narrow last and a number of walkers have noted that they need a larger size than usual. Me too. I usually take a size 9 (European 43) and normally this is plenty big enough; indeed, since I have narrow feet I sometimes find that size a bit too capacious. Not with Zamberlans, though: I had to exchange my original purchase for a size larger, Euro44, and then the fit was perfect - snug enough to keep the foot well supported but roomy enough for comfort.

I walk more than 3,000 miles annually and have tried and worn-out many boots and shoes oven the years. I can confidently say that I have never owned a better pair of boots than these Zamberlans. The upper is best quality leather and is all one piece, so there are no seams where leaking could occur. I have owned boots by most leading manufacturers and have grown weary of the claims about being waterproof. Goretex never stays waterproof on its own for long so have opted for these leather and goretex boots.
Other leather boots I have owned have eventually leaked around the tongue stitching so these which are one piece of leather - with no stitching where the foot naturally bends and crease all the time won't have that problem.
I am a dog walker in all weathers and walk through waterlogged ground. So far these have been brilliant and my feet are totally dry.
I have to say they are not so cushioned as my Merrill boots and therefore are not quite as comfortable but my feet are dry! Having said that they are not uncomfortable. Yes buy one size bigger than you normally wear.
