M14 - It is a doddle!
Fantastic. Same range and throw (well over 200 metres) as the larger P14 and all on 4 AA Batteries. It costs a bit, but if you are looking for a premium performance from a premium torch, then this is it. If you want similar light output from something even smaller, then check out the new LED Lenser P5R. If this costs too much, then check out the LED Lenser P7 or T7 which have virtually the same performance but with fewer bells and whistles, like the programmable interface. All of these torches are magnificent and will not let you down. (We use five Lensers)

Update...

A couple of things I forgot in the initial review. The M14 has a regulated power management system. What this means is that as your new batteries lose their edge, the light from the emitter will remain essentially the same for much longer (being "pumped" by the gizmowizardy and the batts will eventually fade quite quickly, but giving you plenty of time to change them prior to the lights going out...

A supernova in your pocket!
Delivered safely and on time and complete with belt clip, lanyard and great little gift box which I shall keep and store my pens & pencils in. In addition there was this 6" long solid chunk of metal alloy with a gleaming lens at one end and a lovely rounded almost unrecognisable push button at the other. I picked it up and it felt good. Heavy and beautifully made with a balanced feel to it all and so I pressed the push button carefully with baited breath.......my whole world lit up! This isn't just a torch. It's a supernova encased in alloy which blinks, winks, beams, pulsates and even sends SOS messages if I ask it to. It's like a second world war search light that used to strobe the sky picking out enemy bombers at 10,000 feet. It pierces the darkness like a smouldering revelation from another planet. It's all those things but above all else, it's a great torch. I won't ever be needing another!
